Here Is the Turkey

Here is the turkey
(fist of one hand)
with his tail spread wide.  
(place fist against outspread palm of other hand)
He sees the farmer coming so he tries to run and hide.  
(lower hands to side of body)
He runs across the barnyard- wobble, wobble, wobble.  
(make hands "wobble")
And he says out loud,
"Gobble, gobble, gobble."


We Eat Turkey
sung to: "Are You Sleeping"
 
We eat turkey.
We eat turkey.
Yum, yum, yum.
Yum, yum, yum.
Always on Thanksgiving.
Always on Thanksgiving.
Oh, so good.

Alligator Pie

Alligator, alligator
(open and close hands like an alligator's mouth)
Alligator pie.
If I don't get some,
I think I'm gonna cry.
(pretend to cry)
You can take away the grass,
(wiggle fingers like grass blowing)
Take away the sky,
(hands over head)
But don't take away
(do alligator's mouth again)
My alligator pie.
 

Five Apples

(count to five on fingers)

The first apple in the basket was bright and shy red.
The second apple in the basket said,
"What a cozy bed!"
The third apple in the basket said,
"Please move over there."
The fourth apple in the basket said,
"Now we are two pair."
The fifth apple in the basket said,
"Oh dear, me-oh-my!"
"This basket looks like pastry."
"I think we're apple pie!"  

Craft:

Modified Apple Pie Plate

Instead of using two plates I just used the top plate and had the kids put tissue paper on the backside of the middle slits. Kind of like stained glass. No paint either, I gave them crayons to decorate and "season" their pies.

Five Nasty Germs
 

Five nasty germs going out to play

Along came the water and washed one away!
Four nasty germs trying to make you sick
Along came the scrubbing and said
"You're not going to stick!"
Two nasty germs got into a fight
Along came the rinse and washed one out of sight!
One nasty germ thought it couldn't be seen
Along came the towel and your hand is nice and clean!

Balloon Sneeze

Fill a balloon with paper hole punches, and blow it up. Talk about germs in sneezes and then pop the balloon. The punches fly everywhere, and the kids love helping collect the "germs".

Craft  


"K" Is For Kleenex

Photocopy a large letter "K" onto colored paper. Provide children with scissors and glue and a tissue. Let them tear or cut the tissue into the little bits to glue and fill in their "K". Let them cut out their "K" if they choose. This is not a glamorous craft, but it helps the kids with manual dexterity and gives them practice with scissors and glue.

We did the craft without the arms and legs, and used cotton balls with googly eyes on them instead of paper eyes.
